About Tim Hutchinson

im Hutchinson is a Managing Partner of RMP and a seasoned trial lawyer with over twenty-five years of experience in commercial litigation, employment and labor law, complex trust litigation, class actions, professional malpractice defense, corporate governance, and appellate advocacy. Licensed in Arkansas, Missouri, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, he has represented three Fortune 500 companies as well as large insurance carriers in complex litigation matters across state and federal courts and internal, privileged investigations throughout the world.

Mr. Hutchinson has served as lead counsel in approximately twenty-five jury trials, obtained jury verdicts for millions of dollars, and secured a judgment in excess of $100 million in Crain v. Crain, 72 F.4th 269 (8th Cir. 2023), a landmark trust and estate case affirmed by the Eighth Circuit and in which the U.S. Supreme Court denied certiorari. He has maintained the highest AV Preeminent Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating since 2013, has been selected among the Best Lawyers in America and America's Top 100 High Stakes Litigators, and is recognized as a Top-Rated Lawyer by Avvo.

Mr. Hutchinson has successfully argued cases before the Arkansas Supreme Court and the Arkansas Court of Appeals on matters of first impression, including Integrated Direct Marketing, LLC v. May, 2016 Ark. 281, in which the Court held that intangible property such as electronic data can be converted under Arkansas law; Arkansas Securities Commissioner v. Millsap, 2015 Ark. 272, where the Court adopted a more flexible standard for defining a security under the Arkansas Securities Act; Bud Anderson Heating & Cooling, Inc. v. Neil, 2018 Ark. App. 183, which established that an employer need not demonstrate actual use of proprietary information to enforce a noncompete agreement.

He also served as lead counsel in a shareholder derivative litigation, Crain v. Crain , 2025 Ark. App. 122, 708 S.W.3d 356 (2025), in which the Arkansas Court of Appeals reversed a grant of summary judgment in a derivative action brought on behalf of Regional Jet Center, Inc., holding that an independent corporate investigation did not render the shareholders' claims moot and that genuine issues of material fact remained regarding the director's alleged self-dealing, breach of fiduciary duties, and corporate waste.

Before joining RMP in 2012, Tim began his legal career as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Benton County, where he tried felonies including murder, rape, and serious drug crimes. He entered private practice in 2002, co-founding Williams & Hutchinson, LLP, where he focused on representing small businesses in commercial litigation, employment law, and administrative matters. He also served as city attorney for municipalities throughout Northwest Arkansas, was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives in 2004 where he sat on the House Judiciary Committee, served as an election commissioner for Benton County, and was retained as legal counsel to Arkansas' Secretary of State during the 2011 legislative redistricting.
